Scaling and root planing is a periodontal procedure by which diseased necrotic gingiva and cementum are removed from periodontal pockets. This way are created conditions for the reduction of the periodontal pocket and the further development of periodontal disease is slowed down. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia and is completely painless.
